Indium

High purity Indium is used to grow single crystalline III/V semiconductors like Indium Antimonide (important e.g. for Hall sensors, high frequency electronics and infrared detectors) Indium Phosphide and Indium Arsenide.

Lower purity indium is used to produce Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide (CIGS) thin film solar cells.

ITO (Indium Tin oxide) is used to make transparent conducting layers for flat screen televisions and computer monitors. Indium oxide and hydroxide are a constituent of some batteries.
